Our Church

At Monton, we seek to be an inclusive church
which welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.

Our Sunday services offer a variety of traditional and more contemporary worship. We have a Junior Church for younger people and a monthly morning service when everyone comes together.

There are fellowship groups with opportunities for conversations about faith and the things which matter in life. This is complemented by a programme of social events during the year which are open to all.

Our Church is a community resource which hosts a variety of activities for toddlers, young people and adults. Alongside a commitment to serve the needs of our local area we live on a World map - through our active support of Christian Aid, Action for Children and the Methodist World Mission Fund.

A Brief History

The original Church was built and opened in 1899. Since then, the premises have been considerably enlarged and modernised. 1999 saw the celebration of the Centenary of the Church with a year of special services and events.

In 1959, Monton was joined by the Eccles Wesley Church congregation when their building was closed to make way for the M602 motorway.

Over subsequent years, we have been joined by members from Eccles Immanuel Methodist Church (2002), Worsley Road Methodist Church (2014), Manchester Road Methodist Church (2019), and Patricroft Methodist Church (2021),  as their respective churches closed.
